About Ashley & A Party of Four

Hi, I'm Ashley — welcome to my space on the interwebs! Here's the story behind the blog and the family that inspires it.

Hi, I'm Ashley

I started A Party of Four back in 2012, right after my husband Jake and I moved to Florida with our eldest daughter. What began as a way to document our new life quickly grew into a place where I could share the real, unfiltered moments of motherhood, marriage, and homemaking.

This blog is where I write about the things that matter most to me: raising kids, trying (and sometimes failing) new recipes, making our house feel like home, and navigating the beautiful chaos of family life. You'll find a little bit of everything here — from parenting reflections and homeschooling resources to DIY crafts and kid-friendly meals.

I believe in keeping it real. That means sharing the cooking mishaps alongside the wins, the hard seasons alongside the joyful ones, and everything in between. If you've ever felt like you're figuring it out as you go, you're in good company.

Balancing the everyday rhythm of family life often means finding joy in the small, unplanned moments. Whether it is a quiet morning with a warm cup of coffee before the kids wake up or an impromptu dance party in the kitchen while dinner simmers on the stove, these snippets of connection are what make a house feel like home. Motherhood has a way of reshaping your perspective, teaching patience through tantrums and gratitude through sleepy snuggles. The messes and the milestones weave together into a story that is equal parts chaotic and beautiful, reminding us that perfection was never the goal anyway.

Cooking for a family can feel like a constant experiment in creativity and compromise. Some meals become instant favorites, requested again and again, while others end up as learning experiences that everyone laughs about later. The kitchen becomes more than a place to prepare food; it turns into a gathering spot where conversations flow and memories are stirred together. Simple recipes that bring everyone to the table often become the most cherished traditions. From weeknight dinners to weekend baking projects, sharing food is one of the simplest ways to show love and build connection within a busy household.

Food, Family & Real Life

At its heart, A Party of Four is about the intersection of family, food, and fun. I share easy meals, sweet treats, and recipe round-ups that work for busy parents — plus the honest stories behind them. Not every dish turns out picture-perfect, and that's exactly the point.

Beyond the kitchen, you'll find posts about our family's journey: navigating health challenges, embracing a growth mindset, and finding joy in the everyday. This space is equal parts recipe box, scrapbook, and conversation with friends.

From Our Family to Yours

Jake and I are raising our girls with a focus on creativity, curiosity, and kindness. That means plenty of craft projects on the dining table, free learning printables for homeschool days, and lots of conversations about growing up with resilience.

Whether you're here for a new appetizer idea, a seasonal kids' craft, or just to feel a little less alone in the motherhood trenches — I'm so glad you stopped by.
