Hi, I’m Ashley- welcome to my space on the interwebs! If you’ve landed here at A Party of Four, you are likely looking for something other than what you’ve stumbled into. Likely you weren’t looking for my circus of a life but alas this is what you’ve found so lets make the best of it shall we?
I started A Party of Four in 2012 after my husband, Jake, myself and our eldest daughter moved to Florida. I wanted to preserve our epic journey out of state in a place that was on my terms, so that’s what I did for a while. Eventually, people started hanging out and reading so I started sharing things like how Jake and I fight and my heart attack in a meatloaf recipe. Turns out, other people have marriages that aren’t perfect, and other people eat entirely too much cheese– just like me!
In all seriousness though, my blog became a place where I found out how important it was to me that no mom or dad ever left my site feeling like they were going through life alone. In an age where we digest almost all of our information online, especially as parents, it’s so easy to become beat down and feel completely inadequate- and by sharing the real life, every day stories here, my hope is that other parents will feel like they’re doing just fine.
When I’m not the creative content ninja for this site, I’m the mom of 2, Addie and Piper, and I am floundering through my first year as a homeschooling parent. My oldest daughter might as well be 36, not 6, and the youngest was abducted by aliens and sent back to me with the personality of a demon. She’s 2 and evil- but I’m told it’s “normal” and she’s adorable so we keep her.
Jake and I have been married since 2011 and he’s my best friend. There are a lot of times in our 8 years together we’ve found we are literally the only people one another has, and I am very glad to be walking through life with him. He is an EMT and volunteer firefighter and is going back to school for his RN this coming Fall. I talk about him and our shenanigans as a couple here every now and then and I definitely and shamelessly use our marriage to create better content for my readers.
A Party of Four is just a clever name for my family and our antics. Sometimes I make pretty food, other days it’s a fun craft, maybe I’ll even share an easy way to do something occasionally. But for the most part- this site is a look into the lives of four very average humans. I hope you’ll hang out with us, stay a while and maybe find something that speaks to you!
