It’s finally starting to feel like Autumn around these Indiana parts, just in time for the birthday of your’s truly! We had a terrible amount of rain for what felt like the entirety of the first couple weeks of October and it’s finally sunny and beautiful outside. So when I received a box of goodies from Babbleboxx, I thought what better way to share it with you than to have an easy fall picnic!
I have to be honest, though, I am not a huge fan of hanging out in the grass, so picnics aren’t something we do very often. When we do, I like it to be pretty non-involved with an easy clean up and minimal mess! If you’re like me, keep reading for my three tips for an easy fall picnic.
When creating a picnic for kids, keep it simple. My girls are crazy about sandwiches- so I just throw together some ham and cheese sandwiches, cut them into cute little triangles and throw them in a container. I gather some chips or pretzels to go with and it’s as easy as any other normal lunch. One of the items in this Babbleboxx was an Organic Fruit Vinegar from Simply Beyond in pomegranate. I sprayed just a bit on my sandwich and it was amazing. It’s perfect for salads on the go too, no need to lug around dressing that could spill!
My second tip is to make clean up easy on yourself. I am all about efficient and hassle-free clean up! Use containers instead of bags, and instead of napkins- these Wet Ones antibacterial hand wipes work like a charm! I packed these pumpkin snickerdoodle bars in our picnic and they are a pretty messy treat. The Wet Ones make it easy to clean the kids up after eating and they are antibacterial so they are tough on messes and germs! These are great to throw in your bag wherever you go. I love using them at the park with the kids and to wipe down my cart at the store. They come in prepackaged little sleeves, so they are easily stored and take up virtually no space at all in a bag.
Lastly, try not to go overboard on your picnic. It can be fun to cut everything up and make it a classy little affair, but with kids- it’s not necessary to go the whole nine yards. Take what they already love and make it picnic sized. More than likely the novelty of the actual picnic itself will wear off halfway through. Don’t stick yourself with a ton of clean up and don’t make too much prep for yourself. Kids are easy! Embrace it and enjoy the fall weather.
The items in this months Babbleboxx made the picnic experience infinitely better for me and I think it may be a new thing for the girls and I as long as it stays nice out. In the meantime I will be stocking up on more Wet Ones and finding new and exciting ways to put my Simply Beyond Spray-on Herbs to good use!
