I don’t know about you guys, but December is flying by for me. I feel like we were just celebrating Thanksgiving and now I am racing against the clock to get Christmas shopping done as well as birthday shopping for Addie! I keep trying to remind myself to slow down, enjoy every second and take a beat but I am still a ball of anxiety most days.
One thing that keeps me moving and keeps me calm, is this hot chocolate recipe! I love it any time of day, because it gives me a little added zip when I need it and because it’s hot chocolate so it’s soothing by nature. This recipe is for one cup, but you can make a pot for a party too! This is the perfect recipe for those hectic days where extra warm fuzzies are definitely needed but it’s also necessary to keep crushing life!
What you’ll need:
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- microwave safe mug
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 1 tablespoon brewed coffee
First, in your microwave safe mug, add together the cocoa powder, sugar, salt, first bit of milk and coffee. Stir together until it forms somewhat of a thick chocolaty paste. It will take just a couple minutes, so don’t lose patience!
Once you have created your mocha hot chocolate base, fill the rest of the mug with milk, and microwave until hot. I like to do this in minute intervals. This is mostly because while perfecting this hot chocolate recipe, I’ve had many an explosion. Stir in between heating and once it’s heated through, it’s time to enjoy!
For me, I like to move my mocha hot chocolate into a to-go cup at this point. These Dixie® To Go cups are the perfect option. They keep your drink warm while you go, they make your hot chocolate portable and the leak-resistant lid and insulated layer gives you the best on-the-go experience. For this time of year, this is such a better option than a normal coffee mug! Plus, you don’t have to sacrifice those warm fuzzies just because you are on the go: no effort, no clean up, no worries. More time to focus on things that matter. I love that I can continue crush it this Christmas while enjoying my favorite holiday drink.
