Fall is my favorite. Maybe it’s basic of me- but I don’t think so. October always brings me the warm and fuzzies. It’s my birth month, one of my daughters was born in October as well. Plus, it’s the first taste of cooler air many times for us in Indiana. Aside from hunting for pretty leaves and carving pumpkins though, I’m all about the smells that come with this season. One of my favorite things to do is make my own potpourri, and this DIY Apple Pie version is heavenly.
What you’ll need:
- handful of cinnamon sticks
- 2 sliced apples
- 3 cups of water
- nutmeg, cloves or whatever spices are your favorite
- peel of 1 large orange
This is literally the easiest thing in the world. Take all of your ingredients, dump them into a bowl and let simmer on the stove. Your house will smell delicious and Fall will become your favorite season too!
Pro Tip: when the water starts to get low, just add more. Pay attention though because you will not love the smell of scaulded cinnamon and apples- and the clean up will be terrible.
Keeping my house smelling delicious is easy with quick DIYs like this one. Plus, we use Hefty Ultra Strong Kitchen Trash bags to keep the bad smells out and the good smells in. They are tear resistent, not even John Cena can rip them, and have Arm & Hammer patented odor neutralizer so that when you make this DIY Apple Pie Potpourri, it’s all you smell in your kitchen.
