I’ve been hearing a lot of this lately. Addie is bored, all the time.
I have a really hard time believing her. I can’t remember being bored at 6…This child has the worlds largest Monster High collection, craft supplies coming out of her ears, and she gets her fair dose of screen time daily plus we go outside, we hang out together- like, she’s not hurting in the fun department.
It’s only going on noon here, and I’ve already heard this phrase twice today. So, instead of getting annoyed and telling her “oh, you’re bored? well blah blah do a chore and you wont be anymore!!” (see also: who am I?…mean mom award) I had the bright idea of dusting off an unopened gift from two Christmases ago.
A bracelet loom.
I thought, hey, she’s definitely coordinated enough for this now- and I can teach her how to do it in a few minutes and be on my way to productivity in no time!
Bracelet loom says: NO.
So I fight with this thing for 20 minutes attempting to get the hang of it myself so I can show Addie how to master it, but there was no winning. The instructions were bogus and I, a pretty handy human, could not get my head around this stupid ‘toy’.
After ripping my second shot at a so-called bracelet apart piece by piece, we finally figured out a semi-simple fishtail pattern using a smaller looming tool. She did that for all of 6 minutes and was tired of it.
This is my life. It is a circus. Save yourselves and don’t buy a bracelet loom. Happy Tuesday to you!
