Hey guys! I hope everyone’s week is going alright so far. I am so excited because while the weather here is a little bit wet, it is 50’s and that is such a nice change of pace. I can’t complain too much because I know the Winter we have had has been pretty mild as far as Indiana is concerned but still, coming from Florida to this has been a little shocking.
If you were around last week, I mentioned that Jake and I were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, but that we were waiting until the weekend to do anything. I also told you all to follow along on Snapchat for a first hand look at our day! So, if you did that or you follow on other social media, you likely already know what we did. Just in case, though, I will tell you here!
Over the last couple of years, we had talked about getting tattoos that were meaningful to both of us for each other. We just didn’t really love the idea of putting our names on each other or anything like that. So we really loved the idea of “To infinity…and beyond!” As ’90’s babies, this is obviously a quote from our childhood but it’s also how we look at our relationship. I love the font we chose, and the detail in the planet and rocket ship. The tattoos are fun and remind us of a movie we both still love very much but also will remind us of one another and the commitment we made 5 years ago!
As far as the process, I only have one other tattoo to compare it to but this one was basically painless. The other tattoo I have is on my wrist and that one was pretty painful. (also done in someones house….also done by an amateur….also when i was 18 and stupid)This one just stung a little, but was over and done with in 10 minutes with virtually no pain. Jake said his hurt a little more, but his skin is very sensitive from a past shingles outbreak, so we will give him a pass.
We struggled picking out a spot to put it, but ultimately I am super happy with the upper forearm placement. Overall, I am so stoked for this new tattoo and the next 5 years of our journey today. I think we decided that this is our new tradition. Dinner and a movie is nice, but tattoos are more fun and we had a blast together.
What about you guys? Have you ever done something like this as an anniversary gift? What was your favorite anniversary ever? Tell me below!
