It’s one of my favorite times of year! October is definitely my favorite month ever. Mostly because it’s the month I was born, but also because it’s when everything starts to cool down and get cozy. As you all know, we have been back in Indiana for 6 months now after living in Florida for three years. This means we haven’t experienced a proper Fall in quite some time. So we have a big ole bucket list of things we want to do over the next couple of months.
One of the things we are most excited for this month is Halloween! Piper is old enough to go out trick-or-treating with us this year and we also get to do it with family! So I thought, the perfect DIY for this time of year would be a fun twist on a Halloween basket.
Growing up, we used pillow cases, because we weren’t messing around, but I love for the girls to have something fun and festive for gathering their candy. The best part of this DIY is that it doubles as a candy catcher AND a fun basket for gift giving.
So, what you’ll need:
- Cauldron (or a plastic pumpkin…your choice!)
- Spray glue
- A ventilated area (also find somewhere you won’t mind having dusted in a nice layer of glitter)
First step, Make sure you’ve taken off any price tags etc.
Next, we’re working in pieces. This glue dries rather quickly, so I sprayed an area, doused it with glitter and moved to the next section. Once your cauldron is covered in a decent layer of glittery goodness, do it again. We want a well coated cauldron that will stand up to a night of candy-gettin’ fun.
Once you are happy with the coats of glitter, let it sit and dry for a bit. Finish it off with some cobwebs and voila!
If you choose to give your cauldron gift basket to someone as a BOO Kit, you’ll need to fill it! I found these bags of candy and spooky sodas at Walmart! Depending on who you’re gifting to, you could even add some other fun things like fake eyeballs and creepy crawly spiders. Don’t forget to download this adorable tag and BOO someone you love!
